SuiteCRM Outlook Plug-in Beta

No installation issues on OL2013 Win7Pro64.

However, Outlook now frequently crashes. On save or while searching for a record to archive against the message errors are returned.

Cannot open Outlook after installing the plugin.

Compile and Execute the source code:

Download the latest version from http://james.newtonking.com/json

rename C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Blend\Newtonsoft.Json.dll to Newtonsoft.Json.dll.old
copy the bin\Net45\Newtonsoft.Json.dll from the zip file into C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Blend\

download and install Add-In Express trial version http://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/A4880BFE-A230-44B6-9D23-86AFAA1A2997

download and install wix3.8 from https://wix.codeplex.com/releases/view/115492

Run Visual Studio 2012 as Administrator in order for the plugin to register properly.

Compile the project and that’s it.

Start Outlook and yo’ll see the plugin.

Make sure you uninstall the Setup version

I haven’t had any crashes running my compiled version of the plugin.

PS: I still cannot comprehend why a OpenSource project relies on a commercial component but may be some of the inventors can shed some light.

What I observed since the installation of the plugin. Outlook randomly crashes when sending an email.
I can’t really put my finger on it. It is just an empiric observation over the last 10 days.

Cedric, I posted a few logs as well with the crashing. It seems to be very random but hopefully it can be sorted by the logs.

I get them occasionally when forwarding, moving to a new folder, replying and sending. It is not frequent, once or sometimes twice a day. I cannot reproduce the crashes either

Figured I would throw some comments in so far:

Installed with no issues on Windows 7/Outlook 2010 combo.
I have archived a few e-mails with no issues.
Only bug happened so far was an error that popped up when sending an email that I had not event attempted to archive. Did not grab log file.

As far as a few feature comments and suggestions:
Currently I’m using Kinamu plugin. It has a few features I’m fond of that would be nice if integrated:

• Marks archived messages with a tag color in Outlook viewport.
• Assigns the sender as “Assigned User” to the e-mail record to provide quick analysis of who has been contacting a lead.
• Quick Archive option allows right clicking on e-mail and archiving it to the record with no need to bring up a window.

The plug-in looks great so far and I’m excited to see it grow. I do like the auto-archiving option, but I would like to see an option for archiving e-mails that are in an identified list as opposed to excluding some emails from the process (if it is possible). I have fairly long lead times on developing leads and I have many ore e-mails that I would need to exclude than include for the auto-archiving to be effective.

Hi cedric,

The current release has only 2 projects and the solution is having the old ones also. Thats why you are getting this error. You can ignore all except the last error. The last one requires Outlook 2013 and VSTO Template for Office 2013, if you want to use Visual Studio to compile this project. If you can compile with Command Prompt, these are not required.

had the same issue, but could manage with getting it from Github: https://github.com/salesagility/SuiteCRM-Outlook-Plugin/blob/master/setup.exe
just click “open”, and the download starts…
