How to extend default birthdate field year range for Contacts (SuiteCRM 8.8.0)

Hi everyone,

I’m running SuiteCRM 8.8.0 (clean install, PHP 8.3, MySQL 8, Apache on Ubuntu 22.04). After adding the built-in Birthdate field to the Create Contact form I noticed one issue, the year drop-down only shows about ±10 years around the current year.

Example: with today in 2025, I can’t pick any year earlier than 2015.

Questions

• Is there a supported way (configuration, metadata, small customization, etc.) to widen the year range—e.g. 1900 through the current year—without breaking future upgrades?
• Is there something in 8.8.0 that hard-limits the year list for the Date/Birthdate field?

which version are you using?
In Suite 8.8 I don’t seem to have those restrictions:

Hello,

since a recent version, the calendar / date-picker has changed.
It shows 10 years +/- the current / stored date.

It’s not very convenient however, you can manually write the year into the field.
Next time you open the date picker, the 10 years +/- will show around the year that you’ve set there.
