Version 7.9 not quite ready for production IMHO

I am a new user of SuiteCRM and after playing with 7.9 for a few days I am going to use 7.8.4 for my production install. I’ll keep testing 7.9 in parallel to help with bug fixes, but in my opinion I would not advise its use for production use yet.

SuiteCRM is a great tool, and the efforts of the developers are much appreciated, but at this point I am wondering if with all the issues in the updated email module, it wouldn’t be better to bring 7.9 back in beta or at least in RC and not advertise it for production on the main website. This is just an honest opinion from a new user.

Maybe instead of going back to RC, they’re going to make a 7.9.1 bugfix release pretty soon? I don’t know, I’m just guessing.

I believe 7.9.1 is shipping this week

Unfortunately things can go wrong even when the intention is to continuously improve!

Now that it is evident that 7.9 is causing plenty of issues I would remove it from the downloads section. Or at least I would remove the upgrade file to avoid problems for those who have a fully working system and, ignoring the issues, decide to upgrade to the latest version!

This is valid also for the future: i.e. 7.9 upgrade files should be removed (in my opinion).

Or maybe just a large warning that acknowledges there are some serious bugs in v7.9.0 and users should only download it for testing purposes?

I agree - I’m dead in the water till the update comes out - hopefully it’ll return some of the functionality of 7.8

Although 7.8 is friggen brilliant - a total powerhouse
