Use Documents Module with a link instead mandatory upload file

Goodmorning
I have a question about Documents module.

We don’t want upload mandatory a document into suitecrm but when I create a new document, I would like to define a URL to a separated repository.

Is it possible to reach this target using Documents module?
Now, upload file is mandatory and not customizable.

If you don’t need “Revisions”, which is an extra level that the Documents module offers, I would suggest using the “Notes” module instead, and putting the link into the Note text.

Other fancier possibilities exist, but they would require more code customizations.
