My internet provider has suggested that I update the PHP version from 5.4 to 7.2. Will this update be dangerous for the information and operation of my SuiteCRM? Thank you.

I agree with the recommendation, but you have to update SuiteCRM also, which requires some care - try it first on a test system, see how it goes, especially if you have customizations.
