Updating from 7.13.0 -> 7.14.2: No appropriate php version to be used

Hi, and happy new year to all that these kind of things concern.

In general, seems to be that the compatibility matrix should be respected quite accurately, otherwise problems easily arise.

I am planning an update from 7.13.0 to 7.14. However, in my service provider cpanels multiphmanager I can select only between 7.4 and 8.1.

According to the compatibility matrix 7.14. needs php ver 8.1 or 8.2. However, 7.13 works on php 7.4 or 8.0

Basically, I should not upgrade php first, but then, I should also not upgrade suitecrm first either. Bit like hen - egg -problem, eh?

What do you suggest?

Take Backup of your CRM files and on the current setup use the Upgrade Wizard in Admin and run the Update from 7.13.0 to 7.14. Once that is done, update PHP version and run crm files.

Thanks!

Can you please clarify this part a bit:

After updating php, do you menan that i should unpack the original suitecrm backup of all the files to the installation folder and that way replace the ones, some of which which maybe have changed during upgrade?

EDIT: …or what does this

run crm files

mean?

You should be fine if you run the upgrade using the PHP version that fits the old version of SuiteCRM, and then right after the upgrade finishes, even before running a QR&R, swap PHP version to the one that fits the new SuiteCRM version.

Make full backups before, to ensure you have a way of restarting the process, if necessary.
