After upgrading to SuiteCRM 8.7, I’ve noticed that two-factor authentication (2FA) isn’t working properly on this release too. Users either aren’t prompted for 2FA or encounter errors during login.
Has anyone else faced this issue? If you’ve found a fix or an alternative approach, I’d love to hear your suggestions.

2 factor auth is not implemented in 8.7 yet. The only parts you see are from SuiteCRM 7. But two factor authentication is coming in SuiteCRM 8.8 the beta version has been launched of SuiteCRM 8.8. you can download it to see the two factor auth.
I would suggest waiting sometime (probably less than a month) for 8.8 release then upgrade direct to 8.8
We are also pleased to announce to increase the security of SuiteCRM at the login-level by implementing Two-factor authentication. Using time as the source of uniqueness, the Time-based one-time password (TOTP) generated by your authenticator application of choice will provide an additional layer of protection against outside threats.
