Campaign emails stuck in Message Queue after migration – never processed

Hi everyone,

since migrating our instance, campaign emails are no longer being sent. They are added to the Message Queue, but they are never processed from there.

Environment

  • SuiteCRM version: [e.g. 8.10.2] (migrated from [e.g. 7.x.x])

What happens

  • Emails reach the Message Queue (currently 5 queued).
  • Sent/Attempted: 0, Bounced: 0, Viewed: 0, Click-thru: 0, Suppressed/Blocked: 1
  • The campaign overview nevertheless shows the status “sent”, even though no send attempts were made.
  • suitecrm.log shows no entries at all around the scheduled send time.

Campaign setup

  • Marketing type: Marketing (recipients subject to opt-out validation)
  • Target list: one subscription list (test list)
  • Scheduled run date: 29.10.2026 08:31
  • Tracker links: enabled
  • Duplicate handling: prevent sending to duplicate records and email addresses

Email Marketing Diagnostics

Setting Value
Send Campaign Emails (scheduler) Every 15 minutes
Queue Campaign Emails (scheduler) Every 15 minutes
Run Nightly Process Bounced Campaign Emails Hourly, 02:00–06:00
Bounce email exists Yes
Outbound email connected Yes
Campaign marketing items per run 3
Campaign emails per run 500
Campaign emails max retries 3
Error threshold per batch 10
Tracker links enabled Yes

What has been done so far

  • The old scheduler job (“Run Nightly Mass Email Campaigns”) has been deactivated; only the two new jobs (Queue Campaign Emails and Send Campaign Emails) are active.
  • The schedulers are triggered as expected: cron is running and both new jobs show current “Last Run” timestamps matching their 15-minute interval. So the jobs are executed – they just don’t seem to process the queued emails.
  • Since there were no log entries at send time, our external IT set up a running messenger worker yesterday. This had no effect.

Questions

  1. Since the schedulers run correctly, what could prevent the Send Campaign Emails job from picking up and sending the queued emails?
  2. Why does the campaign show “sent” although nothing was attempted?
  3. Is there anything specific that needs to be configured after a migration (messenger transport, queue tables, permissions, settings) for the new email marketing jobs to work?
  4. Where should I look for logs, since suitecrm.log stays empty?

Any hints are greatly appreciated – thanks in advance!
