How many times do you want to be fooled?
Malcolm Hoffman is a long time SugarCRM Partner - listen to him - there will be no Community Edition 7 - SugarCRM have left open source behind. It has served its purpose as far as they are concerned.
If what you are saying is that you want an enteprise-class open source CRM, then come and join the SuiteCRM community. Your SuperTimesheets will snap right in and there’s an extensions directory where you can list it.
SugarCRM abused the trust of an entire open source community. It requires an extraordinary degree of faith (or stupidity) based on absolutely no evidence to think that they are going to re-enter the open source arena. Even if they did, trust in them is absolutely shot to pieces!!
The world has moved on. If we’ve learned anything it’s that “Commercial Open Source” is a marketing slogan for same old, same old proprietary software vendors.
Thank you for public response and offer.
You are absolutely right and I do agree with you.
I am asking SugarCRM to reopen community strategy.
Even if they did, I would never trust them. SugarCRM burned the community. People spent YEARS developing on CE with the expectation (and SugarCRM’s confirmation), that the product was open-source and would continue to be developed. But SugarCRM lied. They stopped any serious development years before they even told the community they were stopping. They stripped out features. And to pur salt into our wounds, they even shut down the community forums.
I would go to Salesforce before I went to SugarCRM. But I’m putting my money (and donation!) into SuiteCRM.
Yes. Pure Truth. SugarCRM had lost Community Trust & Love!
They did it because of Huge and Fast Investments.
Community has Pledged only $40,000 in a Month for a SugarCRM Fork Development Phase of 1 year!
