Studio broken? EditView, DetailView & RecordView in V8

Hi folks!

Just a quick question on where we are regarding the MVC in SuiteCRM.

At first it seemed the Studio is broken, EditView changes not being reflected in the modules and such.
Based on this answer by the ever helpful @pgr : Edit View Layouts not being deployed after customising in Studio (Opportunities) - #3 by pgr
from some time ago - this is some sort of feature?
But it’s not in the Studio yet?

My understanding simply put:
Studio as of now - one can effectively only change the DetailView of a module that is not in legacy mode, which then changes both views (edit/detail) in the frontend.
Is that correct?
Is there some sort of official documentation/note for the change and it’s implications?

This is correct, I would only clarify a bit of terminology. The new v8 views that bring together the Detail and Edit views are now called Record View.

Studio is still basically a v7 thing, the terminology there does not reflect this yet. Changing the Detail View in Studio, if you are in v8, changes the Record view.

Updating Studio is in the roadmap, but it is a big and complex undertaking…

Thank you, the complexity of the undertaking is fully understood.
Just making sure using it the way it is now is deemed ‘ok’ and doesn’t break with the next update or something.
