Specifying a default ROLE for all new Users

When using CE with LDAP it has long been a source of disbelief to me that any new User created because of valid LDAP credentials is not allocated a ROLE. Because they have no role they are allowed access to everything which drives a coach-an-horses through the security model.

In the context of SuiteCRM is there an obvious solution to this? In other words, how to ensure that all new users have a default role.


I don’t have access to an LDAP environment right now, but couldn’t you configure the settings in “Security Suite Settings” like this:

I created a new user and it was automatically added to the management role. I think this will work with LDAP, could you test this?
