Softaculous Permissions for Dummies

Hi there,

Please consider me a bit of an enthusiastic amateur when it comes to servers and web stuff.

I have installed SuiteCRM via Softaculous on my cPanel server, which all worked spectacularly well yesterday, but today is giving a lovely error:
"Forbidden

You don’t have permission to access /louise/index.php
on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden
error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

As you may notice, our CRM is called Louise, because I knew a Louise who used to complain about things, and most CRMs do the same, so it seemed fitting…

I believe this is to do with Permissions? (Based on my trawling around the forum) But I couldn’t find particular instructions on what I needed to change and where in my cPanel or SuiteCRM setup.

Any help would be most graciously appreciated, and will come with hollow promises of chocolate bars.

Thank you in advance!

Fraser

The old fiddle and hit it with a hammer seemed to work.

I went into my file manager, selected the folder containing my SuiteCRM (Louise) and changed the permissions to 755.

This so far has stopped Louise nagging, so I believe we might be fixed… Is there more that I need to do?

Hi, welcome.

Ideally you would set permissions like recommended here:

https://docs.suitecrm.com/admin/installation-guide/downloading-installing/

Note that that depends on getting the ownerships right: so that www-data will likely be different for your installation.

Do you have shell (SSH) access to your installation? Doing stuff from FTP is quite limiting…
