As far as I’m aware, there’s no good way to do it via OOTB methods
You might be able to do it via custom code, though
Some examples might be:

Include a custom .js file, and try to isolate your Custom Modules on the Dropdown itself through javascript

Or, you could try to customize the vardefs, and supply your own custom dropdown list for the module
ie,
(Though, I’m not sure how thoroughly Workflow can be customized, as I haven’t tried it myself)
