Recommended User Group Permissions?

Is there a guide somewhere that shows recommended permissions for users?

I have a team that consists of 2 managers (one call center manager and one outside sales manager) and their respective teams.
I need to be able to set permissions for the teams to be able to work within the software, but give their managers the ability to see what they are doing and edit records when needed.

I am new to SuiteCRM. I have some experience with other CRM’s but not as the administrator.

Forgive my ignorance as I am new to SuiteCRM, but how does Security Groups differ from Role Management?

I was setting up user roles to group permissions - is that not correct?
