Product Number vs. Product Name

When creating a new product, do they have to be the same? I’m thinking there should be able to be a part number and then a different part name vs. them having to be the same. If they do have to be the same, why would there be two different fields required * for the same info?

We’ve been asking our IT company who sold this to us for a year and they say they have to be the same???

Can you please compare with what you see in the online demo?

By default, there are two fields: Product name (required), and Part number (NOT required). They don’t have to be the same.

Maybe this was some customization that was developed for you?
