I recommend against upgrading to version 7.8 Beta as currently this is only a pre-realease and not meant for production use currently so could cause issues as above.
That would usually indicate a 500 error message - you will need to check your website’s php logs to get a fuller answer. However as Camo has started that it is not recommended to upgrade a production instance with Beta/Release Candidate releases.
