popup search: relate field search not working

I’m running an old SuiteCRM version (Version 7.4.1) using Theme Suite R.

I’m having trouble with the popup search window for a specific module: Projects. Whereas the same functionality seems to work for other modules just fine.

I’m trying to filter projects (in the popup search window) by assigned_user_name (“Project Manager”) or created_by_name - i.e. a link to the Users module.

Two things don’t work:

  • If I start typing a name in one of those relate fields, there is no autopopulation or auto-dropdown creation while I type
  • If I click on the arrow button to the right of the field, another popup window opens (for Users module) and I can search for a user there and click on a specific user => this user is not copied into the filter field.

=> i.e. it is not possible to filter projects by user in the popup search window.

Does anyone have an idea what this might be caused by?
Any idea how to debug or reset this functionality?
