I’ve done it in SuiteCRM 8 using the old guide you’re probably referring to. Couple of things I ran into is:

  1. You have to make your module a “legacy module” for it to work. Google that on the forum, there are multiple posts on how to do that.

  2. There is an issue with the template parser in 8. It has the wrong URL (not the new structure for 8). See here: https://community.suitecrm.com/t/print-pdf-in-custom-module/76704/8
