Open Created PDF Templates in Browser instead of PDF Download

I have multiple PDF templates I created that work fine with out of the box and custom modules when I click on preview or print (from action menu) in the detail view of these modules.

I want to be able to open these PDFs in a browser tab instead of downloading.

I did try editing the download.php file as suggested in post ( # 29297- Open attachments in a new browser window) but this doesn’t seem to have any effect. My PDFs still download.

What else could I do to have them open in the browser?

Thank you.

Versions:
SuiteCRM 7.10.7
PHP 7.2
SQL Server 2014
Windows Server 2012 R2
Chrome 71.0.3578.98

This should be a browser setting, not a SuiteCRM issue.

Check some online tutorial for Chrome, like this one:

https://apemobile.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001569212-PDF-files-are-downloading-instead-of-displaying-in-web-browser-or-opening-in-a-new-tab

Thank you for your response. I have already checked my Chrome settings for PDF content and the option you reference is not available. There is an option for : Download PDF files instead of automatically opening them in Chrome and this is disabled. Yet when I go to any module’s detail view -> actions -> preview or print, the file downloads.

This leads me to believe that there is something else that needs to be handled in SuiteCRM.

I’ve also checked with other web applications/sites to see how the PDF viewing/downloading behaves and PDFs do open automatically in a new browser tab.

There must be something else that I’m missing in the download.php changes or something else is not allowing my PDFs to open in the browser.
I have included a copy of my download.php file here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=19RZfIRQUJ0i6mQjMK_XuH9KpLOpM4-uU .

I have included a screenshot of the location in the app where I am trying to get this functionality to work. Though I am targeting a custom module, behavior should be the same for any module if I have my browser settings set to open in a browser tab.

I can’t think of what to do next, or what else to check.

I assume your downloaded PDF works well, you can open it outside the browser? Just to check if the file is not corrupt.

(I’ll be away on vacations for a week so I won’t be answering you for a while)

Oh, I was hoping you would have other suggestions. While you’re away, is there anyone else who could help?

I know some of my colleagues will try to make some time to come around the Forums, but I would say your best hope would be other Community members, some of them are quite helpful and knowledgeable.

Good luck!
