Any idea when a more modernized version of the theme, making it responsive and useful on all devices will be available? Much easier than having an app that doesn’t work with custom modules when the custom modules is what I need most.

This is not on the development roadmap. The front end SugarCRM architecture would need to be reworked to accommodate a responsive theme which would take up a large amount of development time which is currently used to improve SuiteCRM modules and functionality.
We would welcome any contributions from the community relating to modernising the current theme/layout.
