Missing install.php file

I’ve downloaded the latest SuiteCRM version and extracted files from the zip archive.
However there’s no install.php file - I’m getting the Status 404 Not found response from the localhost.
Did I miss a step in the download and install steps?

Make sure you read the installation instructions.

The web root should be the “public” directory, not the top level directory.

For SuiteCRM v8, you don’t use an install.php, you just browse to www.yourdomain.com or whatever and a redirect will take care of showing you the installation page, if it’s not installed yet.
