I have an error when installing suitcrm.

this is the output
Creating SuiteCRM configuration file (config.php)

Database error. Please check suitecrm.log for details.

When I looked for a suitecrm.log file in my suitecrm directory I couldn’t find any such file.

If I go to suitecrm in my browser on localhost it now shows the login screen but the admin credentials I provided during installation doesnt work.

I am trying to install suitecrm 7.8.20. (it has to be this very specific version)

Anyone know what the problem might be?

I don’t see any errors. Are there any entries in your web server’s errorlog or, if you’re logging php errors separately, in that log?

Unless it’s too much of a nuisance, I’d like to propose trying a clean reinstall. Since you are so early on in the process, it might be the easiest option and we’ll see if the problem persists.

my servers error log has a bunch on notices and warnings and ends with this fatal error. I have tried reinstalling a dozen times and everytime I run into the same issue.

Are you clearing the database (drop the database entirely) between attempts? It might be simply an error that a table can’t be created because it is already there.

If we had the complete error messages we would know… it’s a pity it is only showing a small bit (“Error creating…”)

I haven’t dropped the database between attempts. Let me give that a try and let you know if it worked.

To me it seems like the installer is not able to finish the database setup for some reason. A few possibilites come to my mind:

  • There’s something wrong with php or web server configuration. Most likely your max_execution_time for php is too low and so the script is killed before it finishes
  • You’re running out of disk space or quota for the database
  • Your connection to the database is unstable (if it’s on a different server)

Does it always stop at exactly the same point (ie. at “creating Relationship Meta for TemplateSectionLine” in installer.log)?

The max_execution_time was 120 so I set it to 1200 just to make sure.
I reinstalled again and ran into the same issue. And yes it always stops at the same point in the install.log file

This is actually on my laptop which still has plenty of space free.

The database and server are both local. I just installed the latest bitnami lamp stack.

Somewhere in your system there is a log where you can see that error message complete. Go there and you will find your solution… :slight_smile:

Perhaps some MySQL log.

I think the issue is the mysql version is too recent for suitcrm 7.8.20. Im going to try and install an older version of mysql and see if that works. I saw a post from 2018 that lead me to believe that this is my issue aswell. CRM installation on mySQL DB

Okay so turns out the issue was mysql version not being compatible. After wasting a lot of time with lamp stacks like xampp, bitnami lamp etc. stuggling to find exactly what I needed I just decided to install my lamp stack manually and configure everything myself. I am quite new to setting up servers and so it was a good learning experience. I just want to express my gratitude to this community which was extremely helpful. I found a bunch of posts that helped me a lot on this forum and helped me learn.
