How's to restore the database (suiteCRM Version 7.11.13) to new version of suiteCRM 7.11.15?

Hi,

I have the plan to setup the new suiteCRM 7.11.15 in VM, and restore the latest database to here. But not sure any steps need to preprocess before. Any idea?

[My story]
I’m Already deployed the suiteCRM Version 7.11.13 in Windows platforms, and roll out successful.

For some reason, I need to preform the upgrade process. When I perform the upgrade process [via Upgrade Wizard]. I stuff at pilot pre-flight mode in [Upgrade Wizard] procedure. Tried to delete the cache files, patch files …, but the result is no changes. So, I give up for upgrade process, and find the other-ways to do it.

There have been some issues reported in previous threads around upgrading from 7.11.13->7.11.15:

Upgrade 7.11.13 to 7.11.15 fails at systemcheck on windows

Apache/2.4.26 (Win64) OpenSSL/1.1.0f PHP/7.3.9 Server version: 5.6.23 - MySQL Community Server Server charset: UTF-8 Unicode (utf8) I have this configuration a long time and never had issues

After the upgrade fails, do you get any particularly notable errors in the upgradeWizard.log file?

In terms of moving a db to another instance, I think you should be fine.

Although, it would still be worth taking backups of both the instance and the database beforehand, just in case.


One thing to note is that if you link the CRM to the database before running through the CRM install process, it may override the database and generate a clean one in the same name.
(In essence, wiping the database)

So I would suggest running through the install for the 7.11.15 version as standard
Then, once installed fully, replace the database values in the config.php file to point towards your target database

Or, depending on how much data you have, you could also export the data from the 7.11.13’s database, and import it into the 7.11.15’s database

Make sure your SuiteCRM root directory is writeable by the process that your Web server is using to run. It currently does not seem to be.

I finally installed 7.11.15 from scratch to a new db - changed the config file to point to the old db - did a quick repair and it works like a charm
