The best place to set an automatic reminder would be work flow by email.
Something similar to this may help you
I did but i m getting the same problem. Suppose my contract or invoice or document will expire i.e END Date will be after one month and i need the reminder will be just 15days before the END Date.
In workflow i already set NOW +15 days.
