Getting install page to appear - Fresh install 8.2.0

Hi,

I am trying to do a fresh install of SuiteCRM 8.2.0. I am currently successfully running 7.12.6 on a separate PC running xampp.

I’ve tried installing this two different ways, and neither way is allowing me to successfully reach the install page. First, I’ve tried running 8.2.0 on apache through xampp. I have updated my httpd.conf file to point to the /SuiteCRM folder, and also tried having it point to the /SuiteCRM/public folder. I have been able to view the directory structure through the browser, but I cannot get the index.php file to run to start the installer. I have both apache and sql running in xampp.

I have also tried putting the fileset into a suitecrm folder off of my company website. I am getting similar issues there. HTTP Error 500, which isn’t giving me a lot to go on.

My goal is to get this onto a hosted website so I can access it from anywhere, but I’m willing to try to get it onto my laptop - both approaches thus far are giving me similar hangups.

I am sure others have run into similar situations previously. What do you suggest?

I have also tried installing this on Fedora 35 running apache. There I am getting a blank screen in place of the installer. I am pretty decent at troubleshooting, with some guidance and pretty good familiarity with linux. It seems to be a common problem whether I do this on xampp, a bluehost hosted-site or on linux/Fedora 35. One of the things I tried was upping the file size limits in the php.ini. But I’m not seeing any different behavior even after restarting.

There must be something somewhat straightforward preventing access to the installer page. I have also worked with the permissions and still the same issue.

Have you been able to fix this? I’m having the same issue on XAMPP on Windows. I think I did everything according to the installation manual but still the install wizard won’t show. The browser hangs for a while and then stops everytime I open the public directory.
