Fresh Install - Restore old data - BASIC Search doesn't work.

I upgraded my 7.10.8 to 7.10.10 and was still having a problem with double attachments to email.
So I decided to do a completely fresh install of 7.10.10 and restore the data from my other upgraded version.
On the working upgrade, which works fine, search also works.
On the fresh install, though, anything I put in the search box gives no results.
When I go to Advanced search, I see valid search results in a category Accounts (0) Calls (0) Contacts (12)

What I’ve tried:
All repair functions.
Admin->Global search functions Accounts and Contacts, among other things, are enabled.
Disable everything but contacts

Huh?

Advanced search depends on the Scheduler jobs being enabled and operational. Did you set them up already?

Check Admin / Schedulers, you can get set up instructions from there (bottom of screen), and you can go into the Lucene and AOD Indexing jobs and see if they have a “last ran successfully” time that seems recent (and in the correct timezone).
