Email Setup

Hi Guys,
Currently on Version 7.10.4 and been trying on and off for the last few days to setup email function.
Im 100% that the setting entered are correct but comes back with a “Unable to send SMTP error” message.
Did this version have a bug as I previously had no issues prior to upgrade (Was actually a fresh install and data uploaded).
Any pointer greatly appreciated.

I don’t have a clear view of which email bugs were affecting 7.10.4 or not. It’s hard enough to keep track of the current version. One is out today - 7.10.10, maybe you can try upgrading.

If your SMTP send error message box has a link saying “Show full SMTP log”, then that should tell you exactly why it failed.

The Log Displayed the following;

Thu Oct 25 09:59:04 2018 [48163][1][FATAL] SugarPHPMailer encountered an error: The outbound mail server selected for the mail account you are using is invalid. Check the settings or select a different mail server for the mail account.
Thu Oct 25 09:59:04 2018 [48163][1][FATAL] SugarPHPMailer encountered an error: SMTP connect() failed.

I know 100% that the settings are correct.
Any thoughts?

If you defined the Account in Admin / Outbound, then you need to tick a check box that says “allow account to be used by everyone”.

Or did you define it in the user’s profile?

Anyway, the log I mentioned is a different one: it’s when you hit the “test send email”, in account definition dialog box, and it gives an error in a pop-up, that’s where you get to the “full smtp log”. Can you get one of those?
