Documents not visible or downloadable

I am using SuiteCRM V8.1.0-4 on a Debian Platform using Linux/Unix

I am able to upload a document and associate it to any kind of record. When I go to the Documents Tab I get “Error occurred while retrieving documents”

If I go to a record that has an associated document, when I click on the document I get the error: “Unextpected error when calling action”

I have looked through the logs, but have not found any information that can point me in the right direction. Any help is appreciated.

The first thing I would try when getting the “error when retrieving records” is re-set the file permissions and ownerships. I find this fixes like 90% of these types of problems.

And how would I do that?

Currently the permissions on the /upload folder are 777 and all the files within it.

I have not changed any code for Documents, so why would I not have access to those records in the Db, but I have no problem with any other type of record?
