Commands input

Hello,

I am installing a new SuiteCRM on my hosted CPanel in a subdirectory called CRM.

I followed the instructions and uploaded the ZIP file in the CRM folder and then upzipped it there which created a Folder named SuiteCRM-7.7.5 which was renamed to SuiteCRM.

Now the next step mentioned is to set the ownership of SuiteCRM directory, i believe in my case it will be the folder named "CRM: in which i uploaded SuiteCRM.

  1. chgrp ApacheUser.ApacheGroup -R recursively sets ownership for root directory to Apache user and group.

I have no idea where to run the above command and how to set the Ownership, Please Help.

Same goes for setting Permissions on the SuiteCRM Directory, i have no idea where to run those commands (Tho i can change permissions using Filezilla)

Please let me know so i can install my SuiteCRM

So you have http:///CRM/SuiteCRM/ , remember this folder.
You cannot run commands on shared hosting like yours. Forget Filezilla, its very slow.
Read here and let me now if that helped.

Hello,

Thanks for the info, it was useful in setting the permissions, so the permissions issue is resolved using that but the issue regarding setting ownership of my files still remains, which will cause problems for me in future when i try to upgrade my folder.

Please advise!!

I too have a shared host with cpanel. The way that I did was to create a schedule that calls the chperms.php file once every hour. This will also solve issues with the the cache folder.
