Does suitecrm include a chat system built in or is a plugin required? If a plugin is needed, which do you recommend?

There is a SugarFeed dashlet that is very basic but does allow for some single-channel, public chatting.
Then you can search the SuiteCRM Store for add-ons.
The SuiteCRM team works with Kopano and Mattermost, it’s possible that some integration may appear from those companies, but I wouldn’t expect it to be anytime soon.
