Can't get email to work

I am running latest suitecrm on a test environment on my laptop.
I am trying to debug where I made a mistake when setting up gmail
Problems is on the outbound side. Inbound email seems to be running fine.
I filled in all the following:

From Name: 
From Address: my Gmail address (e.g., yourname@gmail.com)
SMTP Mail Server: smtp.gmail.com
SMTP Port: 587
Use SMTP Authentication: âś… (checked)
Enable SMTP over SSL or TLS: âś… Use TLS
Gmail Username: your Gmail address
Gmail Password: the app password you just generated

I can send a test email to myself that I receive.
All data is saved as described above.
I noticed though, that the Gmail App Password does not get saved (see picture “suitecrm email”) Everytime I enter the settings it asks me to “Change password”.

In my profile I setup the email settings too. For Email Client I set “External email client”. Is that correct?

In summary thgouh I cannot send an email as I get the following error message:
suitecrm email 1

What am I missing?
