I can’t create a mailbox on a fresh installation of SuiteCRM 7.1.1.
Either way, I go admin >> Inbound email
or through the wizard in Email Setup for Campaigns
After I add all the account information correctly I then click on save. It takes for ever, and if I try to access the site from another window under the same session is inaccessible. I can access it but after the browser session closes or from a different browser. Then I check and nothing was saved.
Also try setting the log level of your CRM to DEBUG. Then attempt the action again and have a look at sugarcrm.log after you click save. If you want to be sure of what you are looking at, rename sugarcrm.log just before you click the save button. A new file will be created and it will only contain debug information about the save action and its progress. If you don’t understand the log, then post it.
Are you able to create a new user with a valid email address and do they get the password notification email?

on centos the web user user is generally ‘apache’, ‘www-data’ is specific to ubuntu I believe, so you may wish to double check your setup and if so run:-
