Bug? How do you cancel the conversion of a Quote into a Contract

Hi,

Selecting ‘convert to contract’ from a Quotes detail-view directs me to an edit-view of a Contract. But if I click ‘cancel’, the ‘Contract’ is still created?

This does not seem consistent with other actions - for example the lead conversion, and I would expect a convert action to take me to new record page and auto-populate the field, but not save the record.

Is this a bug or by design?

This is by design. Although this does seem to be out dated.

Is there any plan to fix this?

At a basic level perhaps even a warning prompt could be displayed before the record is displayed, giving the option to cancel the operation?
