Very often modules open on full screen and the close button goes back on the upper black navigation bar.
With CTRL- browser feature, can close the popup window.

Can you provide a printscreen? Have you performed a Quick Repair & Rebuild in Admin -> Repair. What are your Server/MySQL/PHP versions?
