I’ve just noticed in SutieCRM 8 that the option to attach documents to emails is missing. Is this by design or an oversight? Or am I doing something wrong?
The attach button only lets me upload an attachment.
Yes that’s the problem, it says clearly how to attach documents but there is no button to attach documents, it’s missing. When you click the button, there is only an option to upload a file.
In 8.10.0 there have been more features released around email compose.
The new file migration process is independent from this - the attachment field options are - after an upgrade - directly present in the 8.10 email compose widget.
@markbond ah ok, didn’t know this was requried. I have one install which is a fresh 8.9 install and one that was upgraded from previous versions both don’t have the document option. I’ll review the docs about the migration and report back. If not, looks like 8.10 solves the problem based on other reports.
Ok well I have upgraded one of my clients dev sites, and while the generic email compose certainly has the upload file/attach doc, campaigns still don’t which means that client is still blocked really..
Also, it doesnt include embedding images into the campaign emails, nor do templates copy across embedded emails in the preview either.
@markbond you might want to explore Mautic for email campaigns. It can be a little bit finicky to get the initial sync but once you get that going they sync between SuiteCRM and Mautic is pretty bulletproof. Your client will have so much more ability to send automated email campaigns as well as landing page design, form design, drag and drop modern email builder, lead scoring, click tracking, SMS sending it really compliments SuiteCRM in all the right ways.
I did install and check out Mautic, however it is very much over complicated for what I (and my clients) need.
For some reason the clients we have dont tend to use Suite as a marketing/sales/lead tool but much more of the CRM (cases/events/etc) with generic emails (and attachments) these tend to be more newsletters than anything else, and mastic is just too much for it (along with the complication of another system setup and management).
Suites original Campaign/Newsletter functionality (while the drag and drop email builder was rubbish) had all the features needed. The new one is just not up to scratch (for newsletters at least).
I’m curious, what are the shortcomings that you refer to, in the new SuiteCRM 8 Campaigns? This is being worked on by the devs, and will be worked on in the near future, so it’s a good time to collect user feedback
For me currently (or at least my clients) the ability to build newsletters (with images and attachments) is missing. While they can get away with the TinyMCE style builder (given the ability to directly insert images and add sendable attachments, they would prefer a block based builder (even if the block based builder is on the email templates section it does need to work when “inserting” it into the campaign emails).
Currently the campaign emails can’t have attachments and in the preview mode at least any images added via the template system are “broken”. The details around the campaign editor (all the system based stuff with the exception of the actual email editor) is perfect for what I need. but integrating something like Mosaico Email Builder for the template system would be ideal.
The current editor is fine for those individual emails (not that any of my clients ever use that) and transactional emails.
I do understand its being worked on, I somehow had it in my head that 8.10 would at least have attachments in the campaigns.
