Are there any plans to add functionality of "generate letter" to a WORD format vs PDF?

Does anyone know of a solution to generate letter from template into a word document? I have only seen 1 paid plugin with a $400 annual fee, that plugin is more designed to do mail merge in quantity, I am looking to generate legal documents that are highly customized for each document, interested in the ability to import text area paragraph (html) into word, or paragraph that can keep format, (indent, underline, italic, font) into a word document.

Any guidance or direction is much appropriated.

There are no plans by the project to output to Word and it’s unlikely that we will.

The only work-around I can think of is to run a report with the fields you want, then export that into a csv, then run a mail merge in Word with those fields. It’s a bit more steps, but it gets the job done. I’m happy that I’m not the only one who works in an industry that still relies on paper… !
