Greetings!
I’m looking for a way to record every time a Lead’s status is changed as well as who changed it. Does this exist already?
I think I could do it with a workflow but I don’t want to stick in notes as that’s already quite busy for us.
Suggestions?

Its Simple. 
Just make the lead status field audit from Studio. Your goal is achieved
To view the changes occurred. Go to detail view of Lead module under the Edit tab ->Click view change log
You can do this to any field that you want to track except relationship field where you have to do some coding.
