Upgrading using "8.3.0 Upgrade from 7.13.x" zip file

Have been trying to upgrade to v8, and I was able to upgrade fine using the wizard to 7.13.3 from 7.12.x, but after that the upload windows stayed blank, and I have had this before, so I emptied out the patches directory, and the upgrade history table, and still nothing. The first time I tried I ran into an upload limit issue from PHP (as this file is way bigger than anything else SuiteCRM has needed to upload, e.g. 138MB vs 35/50MB of earlier updates, so I don’t know if that caused the issue, but even when I run the update manually using the “robo” command, it won’t work, saying the zip file is missing a manifest.php file, which it is, and on examining the zip, the layout is very different to the earlier upgrade files,

Which upgrade procedure are you following? There were some upgrades that were not meant to be loaded into Upgrade Wizard, they were part of a set of instructions that (if I remember correctly) asked you to unzip manually and copy your existing files into a public/legacy directory.

I tried using the upgrade wizard which worked fine for the 7.12 to 7.13 upgrade, and then tried using the “8.3.0 Upgrade from 7.13.x” file to do the same but ran into the “upload window is blank” issue. Tried a bunch of suggested things with no luck, so tried following the command line procedure as described here: Upgrading :: SuiteCRM Documentation and that is when I get the “missing manifest.php” warning.

Sorry, I don’t know what could be goign wrong. Perhaps just double-check your php_errors.log.

Maybe there’s something wrong with the unzip process (perhaps the zip module in PHP is not correctly installed and active).

I am pretty sure the issue is with the zip file itself. Maybe it was not designed to be used within the Upgrade Wizard, but the error is correct, there is no manifest.php inside the zip file, and the internal structure is completely different to all the other upgrade zip files in the download section.

You are probably correct. You must be using the wrong package, one that “belongs” to a different list of steps.

There a repository on Sourcefourge with all the packages together, maybe you can have a look to try and sort things out

I think that maybe someone has uploaded the wrong package to the website, since it is the only one there for upgrading, so it’s not like I was able to choose. I’ll take a look and see what is on SourceForge and let you know/

Thanks.

For that package, the upgrade procedure is completely different. It follows the 8.x way of upgrading.

See SuiteCRM 7.12.x+ migration to SuiteCRM 8.x :: SuiteCRM Documentation
The package is mentioned in section 2.1
