Unsuccessful creating user password

Hi

Just set up a hosted SuiteCRM at http://beffective.ca/Suitecrm

Everything works for me as administrator. Proceed to add a standard user, but don’t see how to set up password.

Attempt to reset password get a ajax error. Log out and click on forget a password, but get undefined error.

Is there something that needs to be done at the SQL or hosted level. I’m not sure what to do if I don’t see where to create user password in the first place.

Please advise thanks

If the above is dependent on email settings done with my gmail, then I just tested email. I sent an email to my record using sugarcrm email client. See attached and received error: Exception occurred, Service unavailable

I don’t get this error if select external email client

There are two issues:

  1. Password
By default user passwords are set by the system and emailed to the users. I you want to set the passwords manually go to the Admin menu, select password management, and uncheck the “Enable System-Generated Passwords Feature” box.

  2. Undefined errors
These are typical of permissions not set correctly (but they could be something else).
If you are in a Linux system search the forum and there are several places where the same topic is addressed.
You may also click on my user and browse my posts since I have addressed the problem several times.
My recommendation is that, as soon as you have uploaded the package to the server you immediately set the permissions before you run the install. I recomment that you run them also after and before and after every time you use the Admin., as well as periodically with backups.

Thank you

Issue one - resolved

Issue two - may related to siteground hosting set up. However I may be allowed to modify settings, which I believe is Linux based.

I will review forums and those other your user profile as you suggest. Will advise once I can resolve.

To make things easy with respect to permissions you can try a script attached to one of my older posts, which resets permissions on Linux systems (it should not be harmful on Windows, but I cannot guarantee it).

In addition to setting permissions on the filesystem, you should also set them in config.php and in include/utils.php (also covered in my previopus posts)

Once done you should run quick repair and rebuild from Admin and then reset again permissions with my script.

I must say that, if the permissions were compromised and some files or file chnages have not been recorded correctly, from my experience, you may not be able to make it work correctly (this may happen under certain circumstances).

amariussi,

I could be wrong but the permissioins that are included in the include/utils.php are not used anywhere other than when rebuilding the config.php and on upgrades if the values have not been set in the config. ?

looking at this I dont see the need to update the include/utils.php file ?

Thanks for the help

Further investigation seem to point to host and port. So I solicited siteground support to help.

Siteground hosting not only helped by agreeing with inability to gmail/email out of Suitecrm, but they escalated. Escalation white listed gmail something.

Send test email within Suitecrm email settings now receive the following error: SMTP server error: 5.5.1 Authentication Required. Learn more at 530 5.5.1 http://support.google.com/mail/bin/answer.py?answer=14257 f1sm7393656iga.1 - gsmtp

I went to gmail application password section and revoked prior password. Reset it. Tried it again with same error.

So I am not sure what is next steps beyond advising siteground your suggestions. The above seems to indicate something specific is not getting through.

Ian,

I agree with you: the permissions in include/utils.php are not used very often but I prefer to have them aligned with the permissions I want to have in config.php.

In addition the keys of the array within utils.php seem to be wrong and therefore they should be corrected (I filed a bug correction some time ago in SugarCRM’s github but they haven’t done anything so far!)

Aldo

mreardon,

this looks like it is getting to the gmail server correctly but its not accepting the details correctly. I cant think of why this would be the case, as I have setup gmail accounts with SuiteCRM before and never had any problems.

amariussi

Ah I see, that makes sence. I couldnt work out why you were saying that these need to be changed as I couldnt see any way they would be used unless a repair of the config file is done.

Have you raised this bug in the GitHub SuiteCRM page ?

Regards,

Ian.,

Ian

My hosting provider Siteground suggested as much, specifically with issues with gmail :cheer: two step verification security.

I countered that within this security setup, I set up Suitecrm with its own application password.

Besides this set up as you noted works perfectly on a local copy. So to me this issue is on the hosting side.

I provided one old example at following link: http://cheleguanaco.blogspot.ca/2010/08/sugarcrm-troubleshooting-smtp-problems.html

Or maybe they are using old or missing ssl enable email host components similar to this link: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/24905606/e-mail-smtp-issues-errorthe-following-from-address-failed

Good news is that I can finally report this case closed when siteground just reported getting Suitecrm to the following point (I gave them admin rights to my suitecrm): SMTP server error: 5.5.1 Authentication Required. Learn more at 530 5.5.1 http://support.google.com/mail/bin/answer.py?answer=14257 f1sm7393656iga.1 - gsmtp

I got the same thing. But re-entered application password and voila - sent test worked. Sent a test email this time using sugar client and again success. It seems to be working now.

I asked Siteground what changed and here is their answer: “Nothing changed. What I did was to check to what IPs does smtp.gmail.com resolve and allow outgoinc connections to them.”

Nothing may have changed, but I still had to get them to resolve and allow the right outgoing connection - whatever that may be.

Recommending Siteground as a Suitecrm remains simply because they helped and service has been great with my hosting purchases. It is way better than my other hosting experiences.

Thank you as well to everyone in this forum who lent me a helping hand on this topic from Suitecrm side. Hope this topic helps others with same issue

Hi mreardon,

It sounds like they restrict outgoing access from the server to certain ports, which will be the ports that gmail are using,

Im glad you got it working
