Hi Im new and having trouble understanding suitecrms’ use case regarding contracts. I can link in a contract via the line item a product using its part number no problem. But there is no such provision for a adding an existing service as a line item. What if the contract consists of service items? How is this meant to be handled or have I missed something basic here

Hi Yeah. As we can pre select good types by typing in a part number I would have thought we would have been able to do the same with a service. I suppose my first question still is though was the contract module not meant to pre select services or am I looking at this use case wrongly eg pre selected services are not meant to be added to contracts. I’ve noticed this problem/issue is also the same on the invoice line items module e.g cant pre select existing services.

Services are intended to be created ‘off the cuff’. Products are intended to be used for pre-defined items.

Thanks I understand. Is there going to be any enhancements in a future release where it would allow you to pre select an existing service just to make life easier for the person working with the CRM

There is no plan for this implementation as it is not the intended use for Services. If you wish to have a pre-selectable service, it would be more beneficial to utilise products lines.
