In version 7.1.3 Version suite - Sugar Version 6.5.17 (Build 1220), we can not send mail via SMTP without authentication.

sugarcrm.log reports SugarPHPMailer Encountered an error message: The following From address failed: xxxx, where xxxx means email

Hi there,

What mail server are you using? This will be dependent on the mail server configuration and if it requires authentication or not.
