New module creation questions

I wish to create a module where I keep track of things I send to my customers. I envision a single account possibly having hundreds of entries. This module is strictly for keeping info on the piece sent to them. I want something like a case module where I can add a new record when I send or create a new product for that account. Is there a way to “duplicate” a module and change it to my liking?

Ok so I think I just about got it working with one exception. It shows up as a panel in the Account page. I need to show the fields used in the module in th emenu bar so that it will list the entries below. Sorta like the listing of Cases associated with the Account
