installation??

Hi

I have a new business and would love to run this software. I rarely go near my server but can at a pinch play with it.

I don’t have a lot of time, and I am not a developer.

The instructions are written for people who are developers: ie

‘At this stage, you may wish to rename the default “SuiteCRM” directory. fine
Set ownership of the SuiteCRM directory:
chgrp ApacheUser.ApacheGroup -R recursively sets ownership for root directory to Apache user and group.’ !!!

chgrp Appache what what what. I got lost at this point.

In the process I decided to check my page to make sure I hand’s ruined it. While there a couple of plug ins (wordpress) needed to be upgraded and when I tried I got alarm bells. Only after I deleted the software on the server would they upgrade. I could in fact ruin what I have playing with this.

I would pay someone to install it so I can get on with things, but I could spend days playing with this.

Any ideas?

I could take your job, how do you suggest we go about it, and how much are you offering?

Just to clarify, I don’t mind helping you out here on the forums, for free, like I help everybody else. But actually I usually try to convince people not to go into installing and configuring SuiteCRM on Linux without proper professional help. Otherwise they just waste tons of time fighting basic Linux administration issues (like permissions) and end up giving up in frustration.

That’s why I recommend getting help, and since you mentioned that you might be interested, I happen to have some time on my hands. If you’re interested, you can drop me a comment on any post in my blog (see link below) with your email. I will catch that in comment moderation, and I won’t publish it, I will just use your email to contact you privately.

If you prefer to try it yourself just answer here with some more information on your server, and what you’ve already tried, and where you’re stuck. If properly installed, SuiteCRM shouldn’t interfere with your Wordpress site, it would be in a different directory (and those Linux commands would only affect this directory).
