I’m trying to import contacts, with a birthdate and It seems to want to import them as mm/dd/yyyy - even though my localised settings are dd/mm/yyyy
Is there any way around this?

Maybe :
go to admin -> locale -> set date format to format of csv file
go to your preference -> set date format to format of csv file
do import.
Locale was already set to dd/mm/yy
I set the cells in Excel to English US > mm/dd/yyyy and it imported!
