i have been reading the SuiteCRM user guide and i don’t understand the principles or use of workflows .Can someone explain it with an example?

Just referring to the documentation again, workflows allow you to create actions (send emails, update records etc) based on when a record meets a certain set of conditions (status = x, or time elapsed since x days). These workflows are checked every minute or upon save of a record. Having workflows allows your instance to be more autonomous.
