How to remove a create button from the Contact popup view

Hello,

We have a requirement that needs the create button from Contact’s popup view to be removed.

We try to copy the metadata file (popupdefs.php) to the custom directory but it does not work as expected.The button stayed on the popup.

Can anyone help us find a better solution than change the original file?
