How to configure Gmail for "Send emails using an external client"

Hi,

I was wondering what would be the best way to configure the CRM so that when I click on an email address it opens my Gmail to send an email?

In my user settings, I have the option enabled for “send emails using an external clients”, but when I click on an email, I get options related to “chrome, outlook” etc…I would like to open Gmail in Chrome but not sure how to get this working?
