Help! Outgoing mail is not working

I have spent hours reading posts on how to fix the outgoing mail problem in SuiteCRM. I have Version 7.10.7 Sugar Version 6.5.25 (Build 344). I am trying to set up SuiteCRM to use gmail. The error I get when sending a test email is:

Error:SMTP connect() failed.

I have tried many of the fixes I have read about in the forums and nothing has worked. Please help.

Doesn’t that error include a link to see the full SMTP log? That is where the answers are.
