Generate some PDF's in A4 Landscape

I would like to be able to generate A4 Landscape PDF for some templates, not all. I have seen comments on how to change the PHP file so that it will print everything landscape and also that option states not upgrade safe.

Is there any other option out there?

It can be done in the code but there is no option to select landscape or not at moment that I am aware of.
