Ok so first Step add the columns via studio

Check if is already in vardefs i know is cache but it dont delete dosent matter if u repair and compile again

you can modify the vardefs where fields are pointing to the Line_Items.php file as mentioned by @pgr in comment

Of great importance is how you name the field, in the picture is my example of adding an custom field to the headings and it is saved in the database [custom_field_item_positions] in Database [positions]
